Fanfiction - Pinpricks.

Title: Pinpricks.
Fandom: Bomberman (Edenverse).
Pairing: Regulus/Zoniha.
Words: 1632.
Summary: A glimpse into the love life of the Purifying Light and the Prince of Shadows.
Rating: High PG-13 for dark stuff and suggestive themes – especially on the suggestive themes. o_o;; Yeah, I'm using the "realistic" versions of these characters, but still.
Notes: Uses the Delta themeset from [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence. Because I'm too lazy to write actual fic at the moment. Beware of fanon oddities, for this takes place all over the timeline of Zoniha and Regulus' odd relationship (and there's AU stuff here and there as well). Also, no, the title really makes no sense - I'm just too lazy to find one that works at the moment.

#01 – Air

He wasted no time in attempting to breathe life back into Zoniha's cold, limp body.

#02 – Apples

She bought him apples in an attempt to get him onto a healthier diet, only to catch him one day dipping apple slices into a dish of sugar before eating them.

#03 – Beginning

By nature of their opposing elements, as well as the nature of the Metamorphosis, Ukkri'Ha dei Aenayu (the Purifying Light) and Fre'Dashti ui Sahira (the Prince of Shadows) have always had a connection of some sort.

#04 – Bugs

Regulus often associated Zoniha with butterflies, finding that they embodied the same delicate, ethereal beauty...and a promise of a new life.

#05 – Coffee

He was about to complain that the coffee Zoniha had prepared was too bitter, until she casually pointed out that she'd used up half the creamer for this particular cup.

#06 – Dark

Through Regulus, Zoniha grew to love the darkness of night, of life, of everything.

#07 – Despair

She put aside her feelings of despair to tend to his.

#08 – Doors

Zoniha mused that she was probably the only person alive to ever have seen Regulus accidentally run into a clear plexiglass door.

#09 – Drink

Regulus was about to resolve to never have a drinking contest with Zoniha again...but upon remembering what that had led to, decided to leave the possibility open in the future.

#10 – Duty

"Don't be absurd – we're raising that child where I can see it," Regulus told a newly-pregnant Zoniha, and was surprised to hear the conviction in his voice.

#11 – Earth

He brought Zoniha to his home planet, Earth, as a slightly belated honeymoon trip, and showed her around Paris even though he sometimes found himself lost in the new France.

#12 – End

Crushed in the jaws of the Abraxion-mutated monster that Regulus has become, Zoniha only smiles and says: "Goodbye, sweetie...I still love you."

#13 – Fall

Regulus mused that he was probably the only person alive to ever see Zoniha trip in high heels.

#14 – Fire

He doesn't sleep with the "Crown Jewel of Madam Lo's" when he goes to see her, but nevertheless, the woman known as Zoniha Sala awakens a fire inside of him that no amount of meditation can extinguish.

#15 – Flexible

Gazing at Zoniha, he finds himself surprised at how flexible she is – after all, going from whore to bodyguard isn't exactly the easiest of job transitions.

#16 – Flying

As Zoniha walks off to her latest assassination job in the dead of Cerberan night, Regulus silently follows along, tracking her light aura from the air.

#17 – Food

Zoniha fears for the fate of her diet when she opens the pantry at Regulus' place and finds nothing but cookies, candies, and pastries.

#18 – Foot

To her utter shock and amazement, Zoniha finds out firsthand that Regulus – Regulus Solaris, the goddamn Crown of the Obsidian Phoenix crime ring, the fear-inspiring Prince of Shadows for the love of Mihaele! – is actually ticklish on the soles of his feet.

#19 – Grave

Regulus lays a plate of crepes – her favorite dessert – on her grave every year.

#20 – Green

He doesn't understand what the problem is when Zoniha gets mad at him for saying that the green dress she's wearing looks rather unflattering on her; isn't that what she had asked his honest opinion about in the first place?

#21 – Head

If there's one place Regulus doesn't ever want to go, it's inside Zoniha's head.

#22 – Hollow

Even though he ignores her most of the time, she still feels hollow inside whenever he's not around.

#23 – Honor

"The Crown of the Obsidian Phoenix sends his greetings," Zoniha says calmly as she puts a bullet into the head of 56-year-old Dario Inverse, leader of a rival to the Obsidian Phoenix...and perpetrator of one of her more humiliating experiences as a whore.

#24 – Hope

Leaning against Regulus in bed, with their young daughter Eirena in her arms, Zoniha finds herself entertaining a slight hope of a relatively normal family life.

#25 – Light

Regulus feels the urge to smack down the next person who makes the comment about Zoniha being the "light of his life."

#26 – Lost

"We are not lost," Regulus says, and from the thickness of his usually subtle foreign accent, Zoniha knows they're lost.

#27 – Metal

She normally doesn't go for the type, but Zoniha can't help but notice the dark-haired young man in black playing guitar during his band's cover of Metallica's "The Outlaw Torn."

#28 – New

Her modeling jobs take her all over the stellar system and beyond, so Zoniha makes sure to bring back samples of the local desserts for Regulus to try out when she returns to Cerbera.

#29 – Old

"I don't wish to bicker with you over something like this," Regulus says, to which Zoniha replies, "Well, that's what old married couples like us do."

#30 – Peace

Subordinates in the Phoenix who are tolerated enough by him to not get flung into a black hole for even thinking of such a personal thing often ask Regulus why he stays with such a loud, obnoxious prima donna like Zoniha, and Regulus finds it hard to explain that he finds a strange kind of peace in the whirlwind liveliness of Zoniha's person.

#31 – Poison

The darkness seeps into every part of her, tainting her veins, her soul, and as she floats naked and bloodied in the shadowy ether, she remembers the man who sent her to this hell.

#32 – Pretty

"You would make such a pretty woman," Zoniha says to Regulus one day, causing him to choke on his tiramisu.

#33 – Rain

Depressed over a rather disastrous breakup, Zoniha stands alone on the balcony of Regulus' high-rise condo, drowning her sorrows in the heavy rains – and inexplicably, Regulus soon joins her for the next two hours.

#34 – Regret

Regulus had already admitted to Zoniha that he regretted killing her on Epikyur...but he had yet to admit to her that he also regretted not owning up to his weakness for her earlier.

#35 – Roses

Zoniha fanned herself at the thought of Regulus lying naked in a bed of red rose petals.

#36 – Secret

He dislikes the fact that Zoniha sleeps with other men (and women on occasion), but he knows he cannot provide everything for her, and anyway she is his personal bodyguard and hitwoman, not his significant other, so he keeps silent and lets her do as she pleases.

#37 – Snakes

As he looks in on Zoniha posing with a giant boa constrictor in her arms for a photo shoot, Regulus is suddenly struck with the wild thought of ripping the snake from her neck and substituting himself in its stead.

#38 – Snow

In a nearby park, Regulus watches with a mixture of amusement and bewilderment as Zoniha and Eirena build a snowman that they claim looks "just like him" – even with its skinny tree branch arms and its sulky facial expression concocted from an artful arrangement of pebbles.

#39 – Solid

The first batch of cookies that Zoniha ever cooked ended up being so tough that not even Regulus could bite through them.

#40 – Spring

When Regulus returns home, Zoniha greets him by placing a circlet woven from newly-bloomed spring flowers on his head.

#41 – Stable

Just when Regulus believes he will have to leave Zoniha for a while out of fear that he will accidentally hurt her in a fury induced by Abraxion's demonic influence, the worst of the urge fades, and he stays with her against his better judgment.

#42 – Strange

Zoniha can't place the strange accent of her latest client – he drops his h's, coughs up his r's, and speaks his sentences with a rhythm that (perhaps not coincidentally) reminds her of a man and a woman going at it in bed – but this only makes her more interested in him.

#43 – Summer

His condominium always has well-regulated temperatures, but nevertheless, Regulus frequently finds Zoniha wandering around the condo in nothing but her bra and underwear.

#44 – Taboo

Zoniha learned, through trial and error, that the one thing in Regulus' life that she was never to ask for more details on was on why Mihaele had shown him special attention the first time they were Called to knighthood.

#45 – Ugly

She knows Regulus doesn't give half a rat's ass about looks, but in her darkest moments, Zoniha sometimes feels that she's too ugly – outside and inside – for him.

#46 – War

Regulus tells Zoniha on a lazy summer afternoon that back on his home planet, he had fought for a while in something called la Grande Guerre, or "the Great War", and Zoniha marvels at the idea that Regulus would fight for something other than himself.

#47 – Water

He tries – very valiantly – not to stare at Zoniha in her wet T-shirt.

#48 – Welcome

"It may not be much, but you may stay here," says Regulus as he shows Zoniha where she is to stay at his place: a bedroom that is far larger than even the sleeping quarters she stayed in as Madam Lo's top asset.

#49 – Winter

During Cerbera's coldest months, Zoniha frequently prepares a mug of hot mint chocolate for Regulus before he comes home from work; he seems to appreciate this minor gesture more than Zoniha immediately jumping him as soon as he comes through the door.

#50 – Wood

Regulus had known since he first bought her from Madam Lo's that Zoniha was a spirited young woman with a backbone of steel, but when she stepped in to defend him one time by slamming a wooden stool into the head of a would-be assailant so hard that the stool actually splintered, even he had to do a double-take at it.
