“There you are, Hubert! I thought you were out training with Asbel.”

“I was, earlier. But I came back about an hour ago.”

“Huh. Where’s Asbel, then?”

“Teaching at the Battle Dome. He has a lesson today.”

“Oh, okay. So...is this why you didn’t come out back to say hi when you came back?”

“Th-this has no relation to any such thing! I just saw no need to disturb you in your work, that’s all. We’d be seeing each other at dinner later anyway.”

“Yeah, but we really got a lot done! The garden looks pretty nice.”

“I’ll be sure to check it out later, then.”

“You better or I'll be sad! Anyway, I didn’t know you liked building model ships.”

“It’s an old hobby that I became too busy for in recent years. Obviously Luceti has afforded me with more free time than I care to have, but this is the first time I’ve found such a kit in the item shop.”

“So you got so excited to try it out again that you rushed home, huh? Well, in that case, I guess I can forgive you!”

“.........”

“I dunno, though — I’d find this kinda thing boring.”

“ — it is not boring! It’s a delicate craft requiring immense amounts of concentration in order to accurately construct every detail! Really, you as an artist should know better. It’s the same general principle as rendering something in pencil or paint.”

“Eheh...yeah, you’re right. Sorry.”

“Are you done with work for the day?”

“Nah, I’m just taking a break. Cheria went out to see where Grune is, since Grune was supposed to bring us some seedlings, and, well...”

“She hasn’t showed up yet.”

“No. That’s why Cheria’s going to check at her house.”

“Perhaps she should have done that in the first place instead of waiting for Grune to come over.”

“I thought it’d be fine since she just lives down the road from here...”

“Will it impede progress on the garden if you don’t get those seedlings?”

“Not really. We could just pick up more things from the flower shop if we need to. It’s just that Grune offered and all.”

“I see.”

“Not that I’m objecting to your presence, but may I ask why you’re still here if ship-building is supposedly so ‘boring’?”

“Huh? Well, I like watching you do it.”

“...oh. Sorry.”

“It’s fine. Just hand me that glue over there.”

“Perhaps you should check if Cheria’s returned.”

“Are you mad?”

“No.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure. Run along, Pao-Lin — I’ll see you at dinner.”

“O-okay. See you later. And, um, sorry again.”

“...” Hubert sighed, slipping his glasses off and resting his blush-stained face in his hands. “Why must she always say such ridiculous things...?”
